IVAN Q&A
Answers to the most common questions about reporting with IVAN Fresno.
What is IVAN?
IVAN (Identifying Violations Affecting Neighborhoods) is a community-based environmental monitoring system that connects residents with the agencies that can help solve local environmental problems in Fresno county.
What can I report?
Air quality issues, water concerns, toxic substances, pesticides, solid waste, and other environmental problems affecting your neighborhood.
What happens after I submit a report?
Each report is reviewed by the local coordinator before it is published. Once approved it appears on the public reports list and map, and it may be routed to the proper enforcement agency for follow-up.
Do I have to give my name or contact information?
No. Your name, email, and phone are optional, and you can submit a report anonymously. Adding contact details simply lets the coordinator reach you if they need more information.
Is my personal information shown publicly?
No. Any contact information you provide is only visible to the coordinators reviewing your report — it is never shown on the public report, list, or map.
Can I attach photos, videos, or documents?
Yes. When you submit a report you can add photos, videos, and documents as evidence. They are reviewed along with your report.
How do I set the location of a report?
On the report form, use the map: search for an address, drag the marker to the exact spot, or tap "Use my location" to use your device's current position.
How do I get notified about new reports?
Visit the Alerts page and subscribe with your email. Choose the categories you care about, confirm your email, and you'll get a message whenever a new report is published in those categories.
