Pesticed spraying near Cantua Creek Elementary

We were working at the Huerta when I started to smell something off. I recognized the smell as pesticides, but could not see it until we hopped in the truck and headed home. On my way home, the spraying was so bad that it created a huge plume that was heading towards the school. I wanted to snap a picture, but was scared of all the pesticide drift and went inside my home. This morning, around 7:30 AM, at the beginning of school, I noticed that the strong smell of pesticides was still present near the school.

Administrator Comment:

On 5/20/26, I missed an incoming call from the reporting party regarding a pesticide-related incident. The following morning, I returned the call at 9:17 AM and gathered the necessary details. Following the call, I submitted a report to CalEPA (Report #67901) and also filed a report with the County Agricultural Commissioner. Approximately 30 minutes after filing, I received a call from Inspector John Susoeff requesting additional information regarding the incident. I provided the inspector with the reporting party's contact information; however, the inspector was unable to reach her. I also attempted to contact her but experienced difficulty due to poor reception. I will follow up with the reporting party on 5/22/26.
